Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 9, 2026. Last updated: October 9, 2026.

This page explains what Craftsman Films LLC ("Craftsman Films," "we," "us") collects when you visit craftsmanfilms.co, join our email list, take the Producer's Scorecard, become a member, buy something from us, or get in touch, and what we do with it. If you have a question about any of it, email daren@craftsmanfilms.co.

What we collect

What you give us.

  • Your name and email address when you subscribe, create a free account, become a member, or take the Producer's Scorecard.
  • Your scorecard answers, plus the score and results we show you.
  • If you apply for the Craftsman Guild: your company name, your role, the company's annual revenue range and team size, where you want the company to be by the end of 2027, and your phone number.
  • If you ask to hear about our film funds: your email address.
  • Payment details when you buy a membership, leave a tip, book a paid call, or buy a consulting session. Card payments are handled by Stripe, either directly or through Ghost, Cal.com, or Kit. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Comments you post on our articles. Your comment and the name on your account are public.
  • Anything you send us by email, or share when you book a call with us through Cal.com.

What we collect automatically.

  • Basic visit information, such as the pages you view, the site that referred you, your browser and device type, and your approximate location based on your IP address. Ghost's built-in analytics and Fathom Analytics count visits for us without cookies. If you're signed in, Ghost's count includes your member ID.
  • Campaign tags in the links you click (for example, utm_source=linkedin). When you sign up, take the scorecard, or ask for fund updates, we save these tags, and the page you signed up from, with your record.
  • Whether you open our emails and which links you click in them. Our emails include a tiny image and tracked links, and Kit and Ghost keep that with your subscriber record. You can block the image by turning off images in your email app.
  • Information that other tools on the site collect, described in "Cookies, tracking, and advertising" below.

How we use it

  • To send you the emails you signed up for, including our weekly letter and updates about our films, our film funds, memberships, and events.
  • To give you your scorecard results and follow up with resources and programs that fit your answers.
  • To review Guild applications and schedule calls.
  • To run memberships, process payments, and give members access to member content, including private podcast feeds.
  • To understand which pages, posts, emails, and ads are working, and to improve the site.
  • To measure our LinkedIn ads and show them to people who have visited our site.
  • To respond to you, prevent fraud and spam, keep the site secure, and meet our legal obligations.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal information. We share it with the companies below, which help us run the site and our business. Most of them can use it only to do that work for us. A few also use some of it for their own purposes, as their own privacy policies explain: Stripe to prevent fraud and meet legal requirements, LinkedIn to run and improve its advertising, and SparkLoop only when you choose to join a newsletter it recommends.

  • Ghost hosts this website, member accounts, comments, and our newsletter.
  • Kit sends our emails and stores our email list. When you sign up on this site, we copy your name and email address to Kit. Kit also stores scorecard answers, Guild applications, and fund-update sign-ups, and handles checkout for our consulting sessions.
  • Cloudflare runs the small service that passes scorecard answers, Guild applications, and fund-update sign-ups to Kit.
  • Stripe processes payments.
  • Cal.com handles call bookings and payment for paid calls.
  • Transistor hosts private podcast feeds for members. Ghost shares members' email addresses and membership level with it so each member gets a personal feed.
  • Fathom Analytics provides privacy-focused site statistics.
  • SparkLoop runs our newsletter referral program and newsletter recommendations. If a friend's referral link brought you here, SparkLoop receives the email address you sign up with so your friend gets credit. If you choose to subscribe to another newsletter it recommends, it shares your email address with that newsletter. That only happens if you opt in.
  • Windmill Growth helps with our LinkedIn marketing. When you arrive from a LinkedIn link, it receives the address of the page you landed on, your browser type, your IP address, and the time.
  • LinkedIn provides ad measurement and retargeting through the LinkedIn Insight Tag.
  • Google Fonts, jsDelivr, and Unsplash deliver fonts, code, and some images to your browser, which means they receive your IP address.
  • The everyday tools we use to run the business, such as our email inbox, calendar, and AI assistants that help us manage our email list and records.

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone's safety, or as part of a sale or reorganization of our business.

Cookies, tracking, and advertising

Several tools on the site store small pieces of information in your browser:

  • Ghost sets a cookie to keep you signed in, and remembers the pages you viewed during your visit so we know where you signed up from.
  • Stripe's payment code loads on every page, not just at checkout. It collects details about your device and how you use the page (for example, browser settings and mouse movement) and sets cookies, so Stripe can spot fraud and bots. See Stripe's privacy policy.
  • SparkLoop stores an ID built from your browser's settings, along with referral details, in cookies for 30 days, so it can credit referrals and catch fake sign-ups.

We use the LinkedIn Insight Tag to see how people who click our LinkedIn ads and posts use the site (for example, whether they finish the scorecard), and to show our ads to people who have visited. The tag sends LinkedIn the page you're on, the page that sent you there, your IP address, your browser and device type, and the time, and it sets cookies. If you have a LinkedIn account, LinkedIn can match your visit to it, even if you visit us on one device and use LinkedIn on another, and it can combine what the tag collects here with your activity on LinkedIn and on other websites over time. We only see totals, not who you are. If you're a LinkedIn member, you can control this in your LinkedIn ad settings. You can also read LinkedIn's privacy policy.

We don't load the LinkedIn Insight Tag if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, or if your device is set to a European time zone.

Do Not Track: our site doesn't change what it does when your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, because there's no agreed standard for it. Global Privacy Control is the signal we honor.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site, like signing in and checkout, won't work without them.

Email

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. We send email from two systems, Ghost and Kit, and the link in each email unsubscribes you from that system. To stop all of our email at once, write to daren@craftsmanfilms.co and we'll remove you from both within 10 business days.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while you're on our email list or a member, and for as long as we need it for the reasons above, including taxes and accounting for payments. If you ask us to delete it, we will, unless we're required to keep something by law. If you unsubscribe, we keep your email address marked as unsubscribed so we don't add you back by mistake.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to show you the personal information we have about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it for marketing. Email daren@craftsmanfilms.co and we'll respond within 30 days. We won't treat you differently for asking.

If you're in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another place with similar laws, you also have the right to object to or restrict how we use your information, to ask for a copy in a portable format, and to complain to your local data protection authority. We rely on your consent for marketing email, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing. We rely on our contract with you for memberships and anything you buy from us. For everything else, including site analytics, fraud prevention, the tools listed above, and advertising measurement, we rely on our legitimate interest in running, measuring, and promoting our business. We don't show a cookie banner, and these tools run without asking first, except that we don't load the LinkedIn Insight Tag for devices set to a European time zone. You can object at any time by emailing us.

Where your information is stored

Craftsman Films is based in Utah, and the services we use store information mostly in the United States. If you visit from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S.

Children

This site is meant for adults working in film. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 16. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.

Security

We use reputable service providers and limit who can access your information, but no website or email service is perfectly secure.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the dates at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we'll tell our email list.
